  1. How do I find my Latitude and Longitude?
    • ProximityCast.com is designed to take advantage of GPS becoming as useful and common as cellphones and is ment to be used in conjunction with a GPS which can always tell you your current location.
    • However there are times when you might like to find the Latitude and Longitude of a location without using a GPS.
So, ProximityCast.com also supports geocoding, so simply enter a street address, city, or town into the "Cast Initiation Point"
The addresses latitude and longitude will be displayed as the "Cast Initiation Point" below the ProximityCast.net label on the CastNet Results page.

NOTE: Geocoded locations are not always precise!

Occasionally the geocoder used by ProximityCast will fail to produce a result. When this happens this link: Failed Geocoding HELP appears. Clicking it will take you to a page that will tell you how to use Google Maps to Geocode the address.
  2. The map markers and the corresponding business establishments do not match exactly. Why is that?
    • The coordinates are of the location the photograph was taken not the actual establishment location.
From the marker location you should be able to see the picture content.
  3. How can I help spread the word?
    • If you have a website, or a social networking page, you can get the code to display this label: Link to ProximityCast from this online magazine page.
    • Word of Mouth and demonstration is a great way to spread the word also!
Upload some of your favorite haunts and hangouts if they are not already in the database then showoff to your friends when you need to find a nice restuarant or shop.
  4. Why can't I find any locations in my area that I know exist?
    • ProximityCast.com is like a new born infant. A mighty oak did not get that way over night. It started off as a small acorn. As the word is spread and participation increases holes in the data will continue to get filled. Participate in the ProximityCast.com community by contributing establishment photos and encouraging your friends to do the same. Soon the holes will fill and we will all be able to find what's out there.
  5. Can I make any money by contributing?
    • ProximityCast.com is a free site that counts on voluntary user participation which benefits everyone. ProximityCast.com does not pay contributors for their photo submissions, however plans are in the works to setup a system for business owners to contact photographers in their area for custom photo shoots whenever a business has a need or desire for better pictures of their establishments. All users who contribute pictures following the photo guidelines will be able to opt in for this benefit when it is in place.

  • Example of address that fails to geocode:
    • 19263 E US Highway 24, Woodland Park, CO
  • Example of the above address modified so it will geocode:
    • US Highway 24, Woodland Park, CO

You can copy and paste the above addresses into the "Cast Initiation Point" to experiment with geocoding.
