pilotPilot’s Tip for Gaston’s Airstrip

The west extended end of the airstrip at Gaston’s has a large power line that crosses the flight path causing the “Additional Remarks”
–ALL ACFT LAND RY 24; TKOF RY 06.
You can see a picture of the airstrip and the power lines on Gaston’s “Airstrip” website page with a note below the picture as to why “we” land from and take off to the east.

When it is time to leave, the winds may not be favorable for a departure to the east especially if you are loaded close to max gross weight. After a relaxing meal and possibly being pressed for time you might be inclined to push it. There are two very close airports nearby:

If the winds are not favorable for an East departure and you're going to be loaded pretty heavy:

Consider shuttling your load in several trips to one of these nearby airports from which you can have an easy takeoff into the wind while fully loaded. Also both airports are only about a 30 minute drive from Gaston's if it is getting dark and you don’t want to or can't make additional trips back into Gaston’s airstrip.

SAFE FLIGHT!
